A Halifax woman who recently swam across the English Channel will be welcomed home later this week and will even take a dip across the Halifax Harbour.
Kristin Roe, who completed her 29-hour Channel swim July 23, will be in her home city Friday to be greeted by friends, family, Mayor Peter Kelly and the general public.
The event runs from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. on the Halifax waterfront beside the Halifax ferry terminal.
Roe will swim across the harbour and talk about her experiences overseas.
From her swim across the Channel, Roe hopes to raise $100,000 for the Stephen Lewis Foundation and the Nova Scotia Gambia Association.
