Charge laid in murder of man found in Yaletown residence

Police have arrested a 33-year-old man at Vancouver International Airport in connection with the murder of another man found dead in a Yaletown apartment.

Thomas Forster, from Vancouver, has been charged with second-degree murder in the city’s sixth homicide of the year, said Const. Jana McGuinness.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was discovered in the suite of a building at 1155 Seymour St. at around 10:30 Monday morning, after someone called 911 to say a person may be injured inside.

“We have interviewed the resident of the suite and the investigation is continuing,” McGuinness said. “We are awaiting autopsy results to confirm the identity of the deceased before we’re able to notify next of kin and release the name.”

Police haven’t said how or when the victim died.

There’s no indication the murder was motivated by gangs or drugs, said McGuinness.
