Charity makes plea to dig deep for those in need

With just three days left to reach their goal of $1.6 million, the Christmas Bureau is asking Edmontonians to dig deep and remember those less fortunate.

“It’s still pretty desperate,” said Dianne Brown, the bureau’s campaign director. “People will come through, but for some reason everyone is donating at the last minute this year.”

As of yesterday, the bureau still needed $435,000 to reach their goal, but Brown said she’s confident the community will keep donating to get them closer.

“I have all the confidence in the world that when Edmontonians sit down to their festive meals they’re going to make sure that everyone in the city is looked after,” she said.

Brown acknowledged there are plenty of wonderful charities in the Capital Region and those who are fortunate enough to have a little bit extra to donate should get in to the holiday spirit.

The Christmas Bureau is in Edmonton only. They accept financial donations and buy food with every last penny they raise.

If you’d still like to make a donation, go to a mall before 2 p.m. on Christmas Eve and find a donation box.
