Check it out: Dominican pride and female power dance down 6th Avenue in NYC

The Dominican Day Parade danced its way through Midtown Manhattan on Sunday with “honoring and empowering the Dominican woman” as its main theme.

The parade was scheduled to begin at noon on36th Street and 6th Avenueand followed 6th Avenuethrough 52nd Street, CBS2 New York reported.

Sing-songwriter Juan Luis Guerra served as the grand marshal. Twitter user @ElFanaticoDom tweeted the parade started a bit late after parade-watchers waited for Guerra to kick things off.

NY1 reporter Tara Lynn Wagner tweeted that the crowd thinned out in the afternoon due to the sweltering temperatures.
