Police departments on the South Shore are looking for a man who kidnapped a child after school, then dropped him off in a neighboring town.
Rockland police released a sketch of the suspected child abductor on Wednesday. Officers in marked and unmarked cruisers will patrol various school locations.
The incident took place after school on Tuesday about 2:15 p.m. when a 9-year-old boy was abducted from Memorial Park School in Rockland. The man guided the boy to his car, and the boy mistakenly believed the man was a family friend, police said.
The man drove the boy around for about 30 minutes before telling him to “get out” near a park in Abington, police said.
Police described the suspect as a white man with a thin build and white hair longer in the back than on top. The man was driving a white or gray four-door sedan with either white or silver wheels or hubcaps.
