Child porn charges laid after early morning search

A 47-year-old Halifax man has been charged with accessing and possessing child pornography after a police search was conducted at a home in Halifax on Wednesday morning.

Members of the Halifax Regional Police/RCMP Integrated Internet Child Exploitation Unit executed a search warrant just after 6 a.m. at a Heathside Crescent residence, according a Halifax police media release.

“They did get five computers as well as some other stuff,” polcie spokesperson Const. Brian Palmeter told Metro Halifax. “I wouldn’t want to be specific because that’s evidentiary. But obviously there was enough to support the charges.”

Police say Julian Kevin Scott of Halifax was arrested without incident subsequent to the search. He was taken into custody but released later yesterday morning and is to appear in Halifax provincial court July 9.

His conditions of release restrict his contact with children under 16, and his use of computers.
