Not so fast, Oscar 2016 prognosticators. Christian Bale will not in fact be playing Apple co-founder Steve Jobs in a biopic written by Aaron Sorkin and directed by Danny Boyle, according to the Hollywood Reporter. After speculation swirled last month, Bale was reportedly all set for the project, which was set to shoot this winter, but has had a change of heart. Sources say a few days of soul-searching led Bale to the conclusion that the role was not actually right for him. The part had previously been offered to Leonardo DiCaprio, who also passed.

Seth Rogen has also reportedly been offered a role in the film, playing Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, but no deal has been finalized yet. Sources say Boyle will head to Los Angeles this week to meet with other actors about the lead role with the hopes of keeping production on track. Bale will next be seen in December’s “Exodus: Gods and Kings,” directed by Ridley Scott.
