Citizens chosen for snow, ice audit

Two Calgarians have been selected as members of city council’s Snow and Ice Control (SNIC) performance audit sub-committee.

Tim Claughton and Robert Weaver were selected from five applicants for the volunteer positions. They will assist in overseeing the performance audit of Calgary’s current policies and practices for snow and ice control.

Public outcry from citizens about snow and ice removal has made the volunteer positions vital to the SNIC sub-committee, said SNIC member Ald. André Chabot.

“It’s an opportunity to supply input,” said Chabot. “It’s important that the public has influence on what is a public issue.”

The volunteers are expected to be fully contributing members to the committee, said sub-committee vice-chair Ald. Ray Jones The interim report being presented to city council is set for July 19.

The final report is set for November 2010.
