Those loud booming noises you may hear coming from the State House and Boston Common on Tuesday morning are nothing to be alarmed about — even though it is artillery.

The city took to social media to warn residents and anyone who may be near the Common and the State House may hear gunfire.

The noise is part of an event at the State House honoring Massachusetts Army and Air National Guard members who have served in Afghanistan and Iraq.

An artillery salute will take place at 10 a.m. as part of the event.
