City hall graded on green

Supporting environmental initiatives can be financially beneficial for a city, said the councillors who received high marks for voting green last year.

“Most people think the environment is a luxury … but it’s actually the reverse,” said Capital Ward Coun. Clive Doucet.

“The cities that are really moving fast to create sustainable cities are also getting richer.”

Yesterday, Ecology Ottawa released a voting report card and recognized councillors they considered environmental champions, according to their voting record on key decisions.

As a whole, this city council was indecisive and ineffective, said report co-ordinator Ian Thomson.
