City to fix up Devonian Gardens

It appears as though Calgary’s Devonian Gardens will be getting a facelift but the extent of its improvements are still up in the air.

It is still up to council if the city wants to give the gardens a cheaper quick fix or a more comprehensive sustainable renovation.

“The owners are redoing the entire area (that the gardens are in), so we have an opportunity here to update the Devonian Gardens, which are as far as I am concerned the jewel of indoor gardens in the city,” said Brian Pincott, Ward 11 alderman.

According to the redevelopment proposal the gardens can either be restored to accommodate the changes to the mall and the immediate life cycle issues, or do a more comprehensive restoration that would include new water features, Koi ponds, improved staff offices and a children’s play area.
