City’s gay village aiming to raise visibility with Build Our Bank

Making the gay village on Bank Street more vibrant and welcoming is the goal for the upcoming Build Our Bank fundraiser.

Held tomorrow evening at Cafe Paradiso, the event features entertainment including the Rideau Valley Roller Girls, live DJs, burlesque troupes, drag acts, and more. Last year, the event pumped $2,000 into the village’s economy.

“This is our main fundraiser of the year,” said Glenn Crawford, chair of the village committee, which covers the area of Bank Street between Nepean and James streets. “This is to pay for some of the projects we’re working on to increase visibility to grow the village area.”

The funds will go towards things like murals, flags, public art, and decals.
