What if you’re not a club hopper but you still want to boogie down? Leave your stilettos, bandage dresses and collared shirts at home — these dance parties won’t have a velvet rope.

There is no better throwback night than Soulelujah Saturdays at ZuZu where the resident (and the occasional guest) DJs spin soul and funk 45s. The “strictly vinyl” party, founded in 2003, is so popular it’s expanded to Upstairs at the Middle East so you can take your dance moves to another level. Need to work on your groove ahead of time? Soulelujah’s mixes are available for your streaming pleasure at mixcloud.com/Soulelujah.

Saturdays at 11 p.m., 21-plus, $8 cover. 474 Massachusetts Ave., Cambridge. 617-864-3278. mideastclub.com.

Once a month, you can get sad AF and unleash your inner angsty teen at Emo Night, which has recently been calling the restaurant half of the Sinclair in Harvard home. On the third Thursday of every month, DJ Texas Mike and writer Luke O’Neil team up to create the ultimate throwback play-list so you can shuffle-step to your little eyeliner-lined heart’s desires.

Third Thursdays at the Sinclair, 52 Church St., Cambridge. 617-547-5200. sinclaircambridge.com.

Disco fever — with a hint of magic — is the theme of the night at the Donkey Show at the Oberon. One part a risque version of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” one part ’70s dance party, the glitter-heavy, long-running, totally immersive show from Tony Award-winner Diane Paulus is a favorite for bachelorettes, unsuspecting co-worker initiations and bell-bottom enthusiasts alike.

Saturdays, tickets start at $25. Oberon, 2 Arrow St., Cambridge. 617-547-8300, americanrepertorytheater.org
