A man who allegedly held up a woman in Mattapan on Monday was caught after he fell not once, but twice, while running from police.

Boston police said officers were called to the area of 1575 Blue Hill Ave. about 1:30 p.m. Monday for a report of an armed robbery.

When officers arrived they found a man running from a nearby Burger King parking lot and heard a woman scream, “He just robbed me.”

The officers chased the man, who tripped and fell as he tightly gripped his waist area, police said. Officers told the man to get his hand out of his pocket, but he allegedly ignored them, got up and continued to run until he fell again after another brief chase.

Officers were then able to catch up to the man and arrest him. They also recovered what appeared to be a gun from his jacket pocket, police said.

The woman identified the man as one of the men who robbed her, police said. Officers were unable to locate the second man.

Tyshawn Pereira, 18, of Mattapan, was charged with armed robbery, resisting arrest, and assault and battery on a public employee, police said.
