Cocktail of the Week: Mora Picante from Favela Cubana

Mora Picante Cocktail of the Week Favela Cubana It’s more subtle and smooth thank it looks, and you’ll want to sip it slowly to enjoy.

The signature cocktail at Greenwich Village’s Favela Cubana (543 La Guardia Pl.) is a drink that combines flavors you might never think would go together — like jalapeno and blackberries — but it’s a subtle, layered treat to be savored. We suggest having it on its own, or with just some plain yucca fries, so the flavors don’t compete against your dinner for attention on your palate.

Mora Picante


8 blackberries
2 oz roasted jalapeno infused tequila
1 oz triple sec liqueur
1 oz simple syrup
1 oz Lime Juice
1 large ice cube
*pink salt for rim, lime wheel and blueberry for garnish


Muddle the berries in a glass (make sure all the berries are muddled). Add tequila, triple sec liqueur, simple syrup and limejuice. Add regular ice and shake until chilled. Strain intoa rocks glass with one large ice cube. Salt the rim and garnish.
