Coleman leads Monsters over Bulldogs 4-1

CLEVELAND – Gerald Coleman stopped 37 shots to backstop the Lake Erie Monsters in a 4-1 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs on Tuesday in the American Hockey League.

Patrick Rissmiller, Ryan Stoa, Hugh Jessiman and Evan Brophey each scored goals for the Monster (19-21-3).

Louis Leblanc replied for the Bulldogs (18-18-5).

The Monsters opened the scoring late in the first period when Rissmiller beat Hamilton goaltender Robert Mayer over the shoulder.

Jessiman made it 2-0 on an odd bounce in front of the Bulldogs’ net, scoring his 20th of the season 3:37 into the second period.

Leblanc pulled one back with his ninth goal of the season just seconds after a face-off in the Lake Erie zone to cut the Monsters’ lead.

But the Monsters would regain their lead 2:05 later with Brophey scoring just six seconds into a power play.

Stoa lead the Monsters to a 4-1 win on a high backhand shot in front of the Bulldogs’ net with less than five minutes to go in the third
period.

Mayer finished with 19 saves.
