The George Washington Colonials visit the Davidson Wildcats in an Atlantic 10 Conference showdown tonight at 7 p.m. ET at the John M. Belk Arena. This is the first and only time these conference foes will face each other this season.
George Washington is 6-12 overall with a 2-3 conference record. It seems like they will finish the season under .500 for the second year in a row. The last time they went back to back with under .500 records was back in the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.
The Colonials are coming off a 91-85 loss to Duquesne this past Sunday, Jan. 20. Forward Javier Langarica led the way with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and five blocks.
George Washington is shooting 40.4% from the field which ranks them second to last in the conference and 30.6% from behind the arc which ranks them third to last.
Despite their abysmal season, sophomore guard Terry Nolan Jr. is ranked 10th in the conference in three-point percentage. He shoots an impressive 38.5% from behind the arc.
Conversely, Davidson is having a pretty sufficient season. The Wildcats are 13-5 with a 4-1 conference record. They are coming off a 75-62 win over Richmond this past Saturday, Jan. 19.
The Wildcats go into tonight’s matchup being undefeated at home with a 9-0 record. After today they have only five more home games to try to end the season 15-0.
With their 4-1 conference record, they are one of four teams tied for the third seed in the Atlantic 10.
Davidson has two guards ranked in the top 10 in points per game in their conference; Sophomore Kellan Grady is ranked third with 18.1 PPG and junior Jon Axel Gudmundsson is ranked 10th with 15.9 PPG.
