Former Coney Island strongman and boxer Joe Rollino, aka “Kid Dundee,” was struck and killed yesterday by a minivan in Bay Ridge. He was 104.
The World War II veteran with a Silver Star, Bronze Star and three Purple Hearts from the Pacific weighed just 175 pounds in his prime, but lifted 475 pounds with his teeth and 635 pounds with one finger, according to the Oldtime Strongman blog.
He was “strong until the end,” said Coney Island History Project founder Charles Denson, who was set to meet up with Rollino next week. “He could still bend a quarter with his teeth.
