Cop critical after teen gun battle

BROOKLYN – A city cop was in critical but stable condition yesterday after being shot five times by a teen in East New York.

When Officer Richard Ramirez and other cops stopped Elijah Foster-Bey, 17, for riding his bike on the sidewalk the teen ran. He fired at cops when they cornered him in a building, NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly said. Ramirez, 29, was hit three times in the chest, but saved by his vest. One shot punctured his femoral artery and another hit his calf. Police shot Foster-Bey three times. He was in critical but stable condition.
