A Brighton man was arrested on Wednesday after he allegedly killed his roommate’s pet rabbit during an argument.

Police were called to a home on Union Street for a report of an argument at about 2 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

When officers arrived, a man told them his wife had called him and said their roommate was arguing with her. The man said the roommate threatened to kill their pet rabbit.

“When officers entered the residence, they noted that the rabbit’s cage had been empty,” police said.

The roommate finally opened the door to his bedroom and then alleged attacked the man. When officers tried to break up the fight, the roommate punched one of them in the face. After a struggle, officers were able to arrest the roommate.

Officers then found the pet rabbit, which was dead.

Alfredo Orosco, 36, was charged with cruelty to animals, assault and battery on a police officer and and resisting arrest.
