A woman trying to get home from the Seaport District over the weekend flagged down what she thought was a taxi and was instead allegedly driven to a secluded area where she was raped and robbed, police said.

After an investigation, police determined the vehicle was a livery car and they arrested the livery driver Tuesday night. Hashi Said, 40, of Quincy, also known as Said Said, pleaded not guilty to multiple charges on Wednesday. The charges include aggravated rape, unarmed robbery and receiving stolen property. He was ordered held on $35,000 bail and refrain from livery activity, among other conditions.

Boston police spoke to the woman, who is in her 20s, after 1 a.m. Sunday. She said she flagged down Said’s 2010 Grand Caravan with livery plates at the corner of Northern Avenue and D Street in the Seaport District. The woman said the driver took her to a secluded area where he sexually assaulted her and robbed her of her credit cards and iPhone. She was then dropped off on State Street.

Police said the credit cards were later used to make several purchases. Detectives were able to track down Said to an address in Quincy following their investigation and arrested him.

Boston police offered tips for people to identify licensed Boston taxis. Police urged people not to get into unmarked taxis or livery cars, use only licensed cabs or clearly identifiable livery cars that are called to the location and make note of a medallion number or license plate. A licensed taxi will say “Boston Lic. Taxi” on the rear fender of the car, will have a medallion on the rear trunk and will have an official sticker on the rear passenger windows.
