What do tricycles, men in water wings and women in bath towels have in common?
They were all part of the second annual Calgary Police Race for Rainbows charity event yesterday outside downtown police headquarters.
Police officers dressed up and raced each other on tricycles to raise money for the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a charity close to Const. Scott Power’s heart.
“It’s special to me because my eight-year-old daughter was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and lives with the disease, so anything I can do to help her, I will,” Power said.
Power said $11,000 was raised for the Kids’ Cancer Care Foundation last year, and he hopes they will beat that number this year.
Const. John Warin was one of officers in a pedal race wearing just shorts and water wings.
“It’s a lot of fun and the perfect weather to get out and raise some money doing it,” he added.
