Cops seek man suspected of assaulting five Manhattan women

Cops seek man suspected of assaulting five Manhattan women

Police are looking for a short, heavy-set man who often wears a black Yankees cap and has sexually assaulted at least five women in Manhattan.

The string of attacks, four in lower Manhattan and one near Hamilton Heights, began in early December.

All the known victims were women entering apartment buildings in the early morning, police said.

The latest assault occurred Jan. 14 at around 2:30 a.m., when the suspect followed a 31-year-old woman into her lower Manhattan apartment building and grabbed her from behind around waist.

When the man pushed the woman’s pants down, she screamed. Cops said the man then pushed her away and ran off.

Police described the attacker as a dark-skinned man aged 20 to 25,about 5-foot, 4-inches tall, weighing 150 to 180 pounds.

Surveillance video last showed him wearing the same cap, a black jacket, dark pants and white sneakers.
