Cops seek suspect in daylight sex assault

City police here are investigating the report of a sexual assault in residential west-end Ottawa yesterday morning.?

At 8:10 a.m., a 14-year-old girl was walking on Deer Park Road near Millbrook Crescent when a man walking in the opposite direction inappropriately touched her.?

The girl was not physically injured, but any type of offence against a young person is a concern for police, said Staff Sgt. John McGetrick.?

The fact that the incident occurred in daylight is also of concern.

“That could very well be a part of that person’s intention,” he said.?

Police are now seeking a white male, 30 to 40 years old, about five-foot-nine with short black hair. He had a moustache and goatee and was wearing a dark blue winter coat with beige sleeves.?

The area saw “a slew of indecent acts last year,” but McGetrick said it is not known whether they are linked.?

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sexual Assault/Child Abuse Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 5944 or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-8477 (TIPS).?
