An elderly Taunton man apparently still has some spring in his step as he allegedly robbed two banks within 15 minutes, police said.

Robert Augustine, 67, was arrested after the robberies at his public housing apartment, according to the Taunton Daily Gazette.

Authorities allege that Augustine presented a note to a teller and robbed an Eastern Bank in Taunton at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday. About 15 minutes later in Raynham, a man matching Augustine’s description passed a note to a teller and robbed a Santander Bank.

A Taunton police officer monitoring a bank later on Saturday noticed a man, Augustine, matching the description. After an investigation, police charged Augustine.
