Craig of Craigslist finds $5.9 million Greenwich Village apartment (not on Craigslist)

Yes, there is a real Craig, and no, he doesn’t go apartment hunting on his own website.

Craig Newmark, founder of the online classified site Craigslist has reportedly recently purchased a home in Greenwich Village.

The duplex, located at 52 W. 9th St. has three bedrooms and three-and-half bathrooms on the first- and second-floor, according to StreetEasy.

A co-op located in a townhouse, the home also features 11-foot ceilings, a wood-burning fireplace, wine cellar and outdoor garden.

According to the Observer, as of 2010, Newmark’s wealth was estimated at $400 million. His wife Eileen and he have a primary residence in San Francisco — the location of the Craigslistheadquarters.

Newmark reportedly boughtthe home from the estate of late lawyer and investment banker Robert S. Piri.
