The former director of a Bridgewater day care center was arraigned Thursday for failing to report child sex abuse allegations at her center, prosecutors said. Judith Ritacco, 53, of Boylston, faces charges of endangering a child, failure to report allegations of child abuse and two counts of witness intimidation.
Prosecutors said Thursday that Ritacco failed to report alleged child abuse at Bridgewater State University child care center after a number of teachers there reported their concerns about a worker, Kyle Loughlin. Loughlin is currently facing two counts of rape of a child and three counts of aggravated indecent assault and battery on a child under 14. He was charged three weeks after the concerns were first brought to Ritacco’s attention, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s office. Despite the concerns, Ritacco did not report the matter to Department of Children and Families (DCF) and she directed her staff to not report it to DCF, either, prosecutors said. Judge Ronald Moynihan set bail at $25,000 with conditions that if she posts that amount, she stay away from the victims, witnesses to the crimes and children. She has been ordered to surrender her passport. Ritacco is due back in court on May 8 for a pretrial conference.
