Dalhousie professor honoured for environmental work

A Dalhousie University biology professor has been named Environmental Scientist of the Year by Canadian Geographic magazine.

Dr. Ron O’Dor, a marine scientist, won the award in recognition for his dedication to his research and to environmental conservation, according to a Dalhousie press release.

O’Dor is currently the head of Dalhousie University’s Ocean Tracking Network, a $168 million global conservation project that uses acoustic tags and receivers to track aquatic life.

O’Dor said in the university release he’s pleased that what he has learned about the world’s deteriorating oceans has been put to good use by those trying to save them.
