Dancevic, Niemayer invited to Rogers Cup

MONTREAL – Canadians Frank Dancevic, Frederic Niemayer and Peter Polansky joined Australian Lleyton Hewitt in receiving wild cards for the US$3-million Rogers Cup men’s tennis tournament next week at Uniprix Stadium.

Dancevic, from Niagara Falls, Ont., a finalist this year on grass courts at Eastbourne, England, is Canada’s highest-ranked men’s player at No. 111. Niemayer, from Sherbrooke, Que., has fallen to No. 502 in the world, while 21-year-old Polansky of Thornhill, Ont., is No. 226.

Hewitt is currently ranked 42nd.

They will join the main draw in the 64-man field for the hardcourt event Aug. 10-16.

Added as wild cards for qualifying this weekend were Pierre-Ludovic Duclos of Ste-Foy, Que., Vasek Pospisil of Vernon, B.C., Milos Raonic of Thornhill, Ont., and Bruno Agostineli of Niagara Falls.
