With the Danish National Girls’ Choir and Brazilian musician Daniel Jobim singing “The Girl from Ipanema” in the background, the Danish royal family opened Heart of Denmark, a hospitality house on Ipanema Beach in Rio de Janeiro, on Tuesday. Heart of Denmark is a 3,230-square-foot beach pavilion designed to highlight the Danish way of living to an international audience, according to VisitDenmark, the country’s official tourism guide and co-host of the event. Visitors can expect DJs, concerts, music workshops, golf, yoga and virtual reality tours of Denmark. LEGO will also have an 807-square-foot play area next to the pavilion.

Denmark is the only nation that has been given a spot at this iconic beach, Royal Centralreported.
The Danish pavilion is free to the public from Aug. 3 to 21, and open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
The pavilion was officially opened on Tuesday by the His Royal Highness Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark along with the Danish royal family and the Olympic Committee. Crown Prince Frederick, Crown Princess Mary, Prince Joachim and Princess Marie will all be in Brazil cheering on the Danish Olympians during the summer games. “The Danish pavilion will provide the backdrop for a large-scale Denmark promotion of Danish business, culture, sport and tourism during this year’s most prestigious sports event,” VisitDenmark CEO Jan Olsen said. “Denmark is a small Nordic country, relatively little-known outside of Europe. Thus, we are delighted to get the opportunity to share some of the best of what Denmark has to offer across sectors, brands and products — and to showcase the country in all its finery adding to the global understanding of Danish values and creativity.”
