David Chang’s Maple delivers gourmet grub at street-food prices

Wondering what to order for lunch? Let chefs from some of NYC’s bestkitchens choose for you.

As of 11 a.m. today, you can order lunch curated by David Chang, who’s gone from affable ramen-slinger to Chief Culinary Officer of the city’s newest meal-delivery service, Maple. But this gourmet meal will only set you back the kind of pennieshiding between your couch cushions: Lunch will run you $12, while dinner is all of $15 — including tip, tax and delivery, which is promised to take 30 minutes or less.

Chang’s team, which includes chefs from Del Posto and ABC Kitchen, is led by Le Bernardin vet Soa Davies, who will be developing the recipes with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, made to order in kitchens within a five-minute bike delivery ride of their destination (so the service is currently only available below Chambers Street).

“This is a restaurant concept outside of the restaurant’s four walls,” Davies tellsForbes, adding that she’s planning to have a hand in everything from what crops their farmer partners grow to who’s cooking in Maple’s kitchens.
