David Price injury: Latest on Red Sox P elbow

Boston Red Sox pitcher David Price was placed on the 10-day disabled list due to elbow inflammation just hours before his start on Friday night against the Kansas City Royals.

The Boston Globe’s Dan Shaughnessy was first to report of Price heading to the DL.

After feeling tightness in the area, the 31-year-old underwent an MRI on Thursday, per ESPN’s Buster Olney

Rick Porcello will start in Price’s spot on Friday night. A timetable for his return has not been disclosed as of yet.

Expect the Red Sox to practice extreme caution with him, though, seeing as he missed two months at the beginning of the season due to elbow/forearm issues.

The problems haven’t been surrounding his health, either.

Price has run into numerous issues with the media over the last few months, most recently blowing up at Hall of Famer and current NESN analyst Dennis Eckersley on a team flight.

In 11 starts this year, he is 5-3 with a 3.82 ERA. Robby Scott has been recalled from triple-A to take Price’s spot on the roster while he recovers.
