A female stunt driver has died on the set of Deadpool 2 in Vancouver after a motorcycle accident. The name of the woman is currently being withheld. Vancouver Police confirmed the tragedy on Monday afternoon, while also adding that their department and Work Safe British Columbia investigators were at the scene.

Deadline has since provided further details regarding the deceased, reporting that she was a motorcross expert that was working on her first film. She wasn’t wearing a helmet for the sequence, which she had been rehearsing all day on Saturday, as that was what was required for the character.

The tragedy is believed to have taken place at ShawTower near Jack Poole Plaza. The stunt woman reportedly lost control of her motorcycle and then crashed through a plate-glass window at the building. A CTV reporter was on set around the time of the accident, and uploaded the following pictures just before her passing was confirmed.

A 20th Century Fox spokesman released a statement regarding the on-set death soon after it was announced, telling Deadline, “We are deeply saddened by the accident that occurred on the set of Deadpool 2 this morning. Our hearts and prayers are with the family, friends and colleagues of our crew member during this difficult time.”

This is the second time in just over a month that a stunt performer has died on the set of a North American production. John Bernecker suffered numerous head injuries after falling on the set of The Walking Dead on July 12, succumbing to his injuries later. Before his passing it was believed that no stunt person had died in the US in over 17 years.
