Four years ago, Delux started earning fanfare for its upscale pub fare. Their lobster nachos and blue cheese-infused burgers are beyond belief. Add in the uber-chic diner feel of the place, and Delux suits everyone: suits, moms, students and lovebirds.
I decided against the new Mall location and visited the original. I wanted to try the latest Delux spin: every month, a different person creates a burger for sale. July’s “Thai One On” ($10) looked fantastic.
I loved the beef and pork patty on its soft ciabatta bun, with sweet sambal mayo and a cilantro kick. It went perfectly with my Stewart’s Key Lime soda ($3.50) and the “a la cart” order of mild, crispy sweet potato fries ($6 — served in a mini shopping cart).
I would have loved to sample the mini doughnuts, but I was out of both time and room. I’m happy to know that this great burger place hasn’t lost any of its bite.
