Delmas likely on his way out of Lewiston

Peter Delmas’ days in Lewiston, Maine, appear to be over.

The Bedford goaltender has spent three seasons with the Lewiston Maineiacs, but is expected to be traded to the Quebec Remparts in two weeks, RDS.ca reported on the weekend.

The report indicates the Maineiacs are sending Delmas, feisty captain Danick Paquette, top defenceman Patrick Cusack and forward Dominic Savoie to the Remparts in what appears to be a trade of blockbuster magnitudes.

Delmas, a second-round draft pick (61st overall) of the Colorado Avalanche last June, is coming off a tough season in Lewiston. He started 38 games on a poor team, posting an uncharacteristic 4.11 goals-against and a .867 save percentage.

The Remparts are reportedly looking to make a run at the Memorial Cup and need a goaltender after starter Charles Lavigne wrapped up his career earlier this month.

It’s not the first deal the Maineiacs appear to be working on. Metro Halifax reported last week the Maineiacs could be on the verge of shipping former sixth overall draft choice Garrett Clarke to the Halifax Mooseheads. The Mooseheads would send back a 19-year-old forward and a seventh-round pick.
