Democrats race to Vancouver

The battle between U.S. senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama is coming to Vancouver this weekend as hundreds of expatriate U.S. Democrats meet to select delegates for their upcoming national convention.
The Democrats Abroad Global Convention starts Friday.
“Party officials are coming together to figure out who gets to represent Democrats Abroad at the big convention,” said spokesman Michael Meneer. “Vancouver is hosting a critical part of the race for the Democratic nomination.”
Democrats Abroad, which represents Democrats living outside the United States, is similar to a state committee and sends 22 delegates to the Democratic National Convention, held Aug. 25 to 28 in Denver.
The delegates will be apportioned based on the results of a global primary, held Feb. 5 to 12. Obama received 65.8 per cent of the vote to Clinton’s 32.5 per cent.
