Demonika brings outrageous show back to Edmonton

If you’re in to body piercings, acrobatics, alternative fashion and a sexy vibe with a macabre twist, then come see the greatest show unearthed coming to Edmonton March 27.

Demonika’s Symphony of Horrors 5: Orgy of the Undead is an underground collaboration of some of the wildest and most uncensored artists and performers in the area. This is the Calgary company’s ninth year performing and second year bringing the outrageous show to Edmonton.

“Everyone who went to the show last year said they really enjoyed it because there’s nothing else like this happening in Alberta,” said Danika (Demonika) Challand. “Word of mouth alone is really going to help us out.”

Challand started the alternative-edged events company after taking part in a few shows herself.

“Once I played a small role in it for two years I was hooked,” she said. “I had to do my own show.”

Her own show is doing quite well in her home town and now she’s hoping Edmontonians will catch the burlesque-bug.

“We obviously have a huge fan base here in Calgary, we sell out every show,” Challand said.

“We had a really good turn out last year (in Edmonton) but we did it on a Sunday so it probably wasn’t as strong of a crowd as we would have liked but this year we’re doing it on a Saturday.”

Demonika’s Symphony of Horrors 5 plays March 27 at the Starlight Room. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Visit www.demonika.ca for more information.
