Stay with me on this one, because it’s twisty: Jerry Casale, bassist and singer for ’80s nerd-pop super-group Devo, got married Friday — you know, on 9/11 — which led to some unfortunate reception concept choices. Casale explains to Billboard that he and his now-wife, Krista Napp, chose the date for logistical reasons despite the tragic anniversary, and when a friend questioned the choice he joked that he and Napp represent “the Twin Towers of love.” Which he admits was a pretty bad joke. RELATED: Elizabeth Olsen shoots down those pesky Tom Hiddleston dating rumors But apparently not bad enough, as the friend took the idea and ran with it, setting up a reception featuring a Twin Towers-shaped cake and box cutters as party favors. “He thought it was some sort of transgressive sick humor, and the problem is, it’s not funny,” Casale says. And if that’s not bad enough, he came back from his weekend honeymoon to discover someone had sold photos of the event to TMZ. Personally, I think a certain friend owes Casale and Napp a wedding redo as a gift. Yikes. Anyway, he’s really sorry:
Deep apologies for all offended. There is a real explanation and its not what you think. Surprise cake and pix to TMZ was a set up. TBC…
