Diane Keaton: I loved Woody Allen for his beautiful body

As we are perpetually reminded, it takes all types of taste to make a world. Which is why it shouldn’t be surprising that even a man like Woody Allen has his former paramours reminiscing about what a sexy, sexy hunk he was.

In Diane Keaton’s new memoir, Then Again, the actress reveals a … shall we say, little-held opinion about Allen’s irresistibility:

I was in love with him before I knew him. He was Woody Allen. Our entire family used to gather around the TV set and watch him on Johnny Carson. He was so hip, with his thick glasses and cool suits.

But it was his manner that got me, his way of gesturing, his hands, his coughing and looking down in a self-deprecating way while he told jokes like “I couldn’t get a date for New Year’s Eve so I went home and I jumped naked into a vat of Roosevelt dimes.” He was even better-looking in real life. He had a great body, and he was physically very graceful.

Awkward twentysomething men across America just sighed in collective relief. If even Woody Allen had a chance with 1968 Diane Keaton, what excuse do you have for not putting yourself out there?

Also, real talk: For all the hilarity that this story has provided, Woody Allen’s body wasn’t actually that bad. Sure, with clothes on Allen was the walking embodiment of the word “nebbish,” but once that shirt came off, dammmmnnn. Am I right, ladies?
