Twice a year, dozens of the city’s top restaurants create prix-fixe, multi-course menus highlighting the best of their respective cuisines at a promotional price point. All you have to do is make a reservation on these dates and order from the special menu.
We compiled a list of some of the best participating locations for dinner, which includes an appetizer, entree and dessert for $38. Let the feasting begin.
Head over to the South End’s Boston Chops for some prime cuts of steak, pork and other carnivorous delights. Start off your three-course meal with fresh oysters, Caesar salad or oxtail croquettes paired with an Italian condiment called mostarda. Steak frites is the name of the game for entrees with 8-ounce prime steak skirt and 10-ounce bone-in pork chop on offer. End on a sweeter note with a toffee pudding, topped with butterscotch and fig, or a vanilla bean creme brulee.

One of the several fine dining experiences at The Liberty Hotel, CLINK. showcases its modern American cooking amongst the vestiges of the Charles Street Jail. The octopus croquette, including cucumber dill salad and chorizo vinaigrette, is a sure slam dunk and the bulgogi beef short rib is an excellent main for fans of the Korean staple. A Filipino bibingka rice cake and cherry ice cream will make you never want to leave.

Taste a bit of Tuscany, now for a steal, at one of downtown’s most notable Italian eateries. “Chef Peppino” has prepared a comprehensive Dine Out Boston menu which has several vegetarian and gluten-free options. Appetizers include staples like the Caprese salad as well as more the more adventurous “arancini” mozzarella-stuffed risotto balls. Try the masala ravioli, an homage to the chef’s Indian roots, for your main meal and finish with either gelato, mousse or tiramisu.

This Dorchester spot combines great food with vibrant nightlife as the dining room switches over to a club and lounge later on in the evening. Get going with a simple kale salad or tom yum-style Thai mussels followed by a orecchiette pasta with chicken sausage made in-house. The passionfruit cheesecake with an accompanying coulis can be paired with a specific wine, like all the dishes on the menu, with an $18 upgrade.

This Mediterranean restaurant across the street from the Public Garden will make you say “opa” with each course of their tasty Greek fare. Munch on tzatziki, hummus and pita or a colorful “village salad” first and then select two smaller plates for dinner. The “Saganaki fondue” blends Santorini with Switzerland and the grilled octopus, lightly seasoned with onion and herbs, is sure to please seafood fans. “Greek inspired ice cream” is served for the last course with flavors like frappe and pistachio.

With names like the “Boston unCommon” and “Back Bay,” Haru is catering to the hearts and stomachs of the Beantown sushi cognoscente. Joining the ever-expanding list of eateries in the burgeoning Seaport, Rosa Mexicano has modern Latin choices representative of many different regions in Mexico. The Dine Out menu includes the lime soup, romaine wedge salad and shrimp and beef empanadas for appetizers. The “pescado primavera” should shine some light on your day with its pan-seared white fish and tomato gazpacho. An avocado ice cream, topped with chocolate sauce and tortilla chips, is one of the confectionary highlights in addition to the cinnamon and raspberry churros.

While this one isn’t technically on the Dine Out Boston list, Smith & Wollensky is upping the ante with a month-long surf and turf special at both their Atlantic Wharf and Back Bay locations. Diners can pay just $5 more and have their order of steak coupled with either a whole Maine lobster, steamed or broiled, or three jumbo shrimp grilled with a spicy lobster sauce. This offer extends for the whole month of August for lunch and dinner and starts at around $42.

The Capital Grille
The Capital Grille, with prime meats and decadent sides, is undoubtedly a champion of luxury dining and superior service.
