It claims to be the “Happiest Place on Earth,” but Disney employees apparently disagree, according to a survey by online jobs site CareerBliss.
In a poll of the most “blissful places to work,” the jobs site awarded Disney low ranks — lower, in fact, than all four branches of the United States armed services, The Daily Mail reported in an article titled “What’s magical about working for Disney? I’d rather go to Afghanistan.”
“Corporate America could learn from our military’s unique programs,” said Rick Wainschel, vice president of the jobs site.
The entertainment conglomerate, which employs some 100,000 people across the globe, is all about “profit, profit, profit,” according to union boss Guy-Bruno Mboe, and has also had problems accommodating Muslim workers, the article alleges.
“The bottom line,” Wainschel concludes, “is that when a company provides opportunities to grow and tools to improve skills, it creates a happier work environment.”
Friendly skies? We think not
Disney’s not the only company that took a beating in the press this week. In an article titled “America’s Meanest Airlines,” U.S. News and World Report summarized the Airline Quality Rating, ranking carriers in terms of customer service. Topping the list of “Worst Major Airlines” is Delta, coming in at No. 1 for delays and consumer complaints.
