Donna Karan tapped into the core of what makes New York so special: diversity.

The designer culled from the city’s melting pot for bold geometric prints, colorful graphic stripes and ethnic paisleys that appeared on long, lean, often oversized silhouettes.

As if there weren’t enough going on, the looks came layered: mini skirts, such as a sequin embellished number, were thrown over long, stripped tube skirts. The magpie effect worked, thanks to a sublime color palette of tomato red, navy, caress blue, lime and nude— just as varied and unique as the residents that make up this town.
