Dorchester sexual assault happened in broad daylight

Transit Police said a woman was sexually assaulted at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday while she was entering the JFK/UMass Station in Dorchester.

Details on the assault were scarce Wednesday, however police said it happened in a parking lot, adjacent to Sydney Street, and that the victim was attacked while walking towards the station entrance.

When asked how a sex crime could have happened in broad daylight, MBTA
Superintendent-in-Chief Joseph O’Connor said “the facts and
circumstances of the case are currently under investigation.”

The suspect is described as a white man in his mid 20s, with a heavy build, clear complexion, and a “scruffy brown beard.” He is estimated to be about 5-foot-10-inches tall, and was seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, light blue jeans and sneakers, police said.

“Remember to always be aware of your surroundings and report any suspicious persons or items on the MBTA,” Transit Police said in a statement.
