Downtown blaze hits local businesses

No one was hurt, but several businesses were affected during a two-alarm blaze downtown.

The blaze at 10730 101 St. was called in at 4:48 p.m., and firefighters arrived soon thereafter. Three people were inside when the fire broke out but were able to make it to safety.

Bridal International, National Cabinet Ltd. and Rosie’s Gift Shop are the three businesses that were significantly impacted by the fire.

Initial estimates by the Edmonton Fire Services pegged the damage at $1.4 million.

Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the blaze as of press time.
