A dozen members of the graduating class at the Calgary Drop-In and Rehab Centre are now a step closer to getting their foot in the door of a city workplace.
The Centre’s Career Training Initiative’s 50th graduation class held its ceremonies Thursday to celebrate their accomplishments.
“It’s a significant milestone for us as it represents over 300 individuals who have achieved a level of industry certification they didn’t imagine possible before the program,” co-ordinator Jason Mackay said.
After arriving during the city’s boom, Randy Freng bounced from job to job until he landed at the shelter, where he stayed for a couple of years until graduating from the class.
“I have all my tickets and I thank the program co-ordinators for helping me,” he said, adding he encourages the new graduates to flourish with the same opportunity.
