Police believe a man found dead Wednesday night in a southwest neighbourhood back alley was slain over drugs.
Homicide Staff Sgt. Rick Tuza said it appears the man in his 40s may have been meeting with a group of men when an altercation took place in the 900 block of 43 Street SW at 7:30 p.m.
“We do not believe this incident is random. We believe the combatants knew each other and we believe the incident was drug-related,” Tuza said. “We have suspects in mind we just need to locate them.”
The cause of death will not be released due to the pending investigation. The victim’s name will not be released until next of kin is notified
“We did recover some weapons at the scene we believe were related,” Tuza said, though he couldn’t specify what kind.
Police seek information about two men who fled the scene said to be in their late teens or early 20s. Police also executed a search warrant on a Cadillac found crashed at the scene.
