A Salem, Massachusetts, police officer will need reconstructive surgery after an allegedly drunk teen bit off a piece of her ear during a violent confrontation early Sunday.

Emma Wiley, 19, of Marblehead was held after a Salem Court judge found her too dangerous to release on bail.

She faces charges of mayhem, assault and battery causing serious bodily injury, resisting arrest, assault and battery on a police officer, threatening to commit a crime, disorderly conduct and having a false identification, according to a statement from the Essex District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities said that Wiley bit off a piece of Patrolwoman Jessica Rondinelli’s right ear while officers were placing her in the backseat of their cruiser, after a disturbance outside a Salem restaurant.

Fox 25 identified the restaurant as Tavern in the Square.

Rondinelli, reportedly a recent graduate of the police academy, also told the network that Wiley “made numerous spontaneous threats about how she was going to have every one of us cops killed.”

Wiley is due in court Aug. 30.
