An early morning fire ripped through a Brooklyn home on Monday, claiming the lives of two residents.

Officials reported that a 59-year-old woman and a 61-year-old man were rescued before being pronounced dead. The identity of the two victims was not known as of Monday morning.

The fire began just after 4 a.m. at the Borough Park house on 44th Street between Fort Hamilton Parkway and 12th Avenue. Shortly after it started, the FDNY tweeted out an alert, finally reporting the blaze was under control about two hours later.

Video footage taken by an onlooker showed smoke moving up from the attic as crowds stood before the home and emergency crew dashed into action.

CBS2 reported that one witness saw a firefighter being carried away from the scene on a gurney, but the individual seemed OK.
