East Village stabbing over a girl

Police arrested a 25-year-old artist for the fatal stabbing of a Bushwick man early Monday morning in the East Village.

Jairo Pastoressa, 25, was arrested late Monday night after he turned himself in to police. Pastoressa stabbed Chris Jusko, 21, in the throat after the two argued inside Pastoressa’s East Seventh Street apartment, according to reports.

And then Jusko, who lived in Bushwick, stumbled out onto the sidewalk and died in a pool of his own blood, to the shock of those walking by.

Pastoressa was well known on the block as a quiet artist who silk-screened T-shirts. He was also a graffiti artist who went by the street name “Link,” said friends, and who worked on a Barack Obama mural with well-known artist Antonio “Chico” Garcia.

“He’s not a fighter, he’s a hippie artist who stays to himself,” said Damien J., 26, who lives on the block. “I don’t believe this.”

Jusko and Pastoressa started arguing after Jusko found his ex-girlfriend in Pastoressa’s apartment, according to reports.

Clyde Ramos, 22, who lives in the building where the murder occurred, said he was awoken Monday morning by a woman screaming.

“He’s creative, an artist,” said Ramos of Pastoressa. “This brings me to tears.”
