If you missed Tyler Perry’s two-hour musical Easter-vaganza on Fox this weekend, don’t worry — there’s another opportunity for you to catch a pepped up Passion reenactment before Sunday.

“Easter Mysteries,” produced by Tony Award-winning Ron Simons, is a modern take on the Passion Play featuring an interracial cast of veteran Broadway actors, including Phillip Boykin (Caiaphas), Ruth Gottschall (Miriam) and Steffanie Leigh (Naomi). The musical theater production, directed by Danny Goldstein with a live audience, is also the first retelling from the perspective of Peter. It follows the journey of Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection from the viewpoint of his disciples, creating an innovative reimagining of a classic tale. Add in music by Tony-winning John O’Boyle, and a bridge between audience and performance and diversity and religion is formed.

Boykin calls it “a Passion play like no other. The love bursts forth and the music soars.”

Stick around after the final credits because a panel led by Jewish, Christian and Muslim leaders will discuss the show and its impact on interfaith relationships.
